Who we are

Olio Cooking is owned and operated by Olio Cooking, based in Greece. Olio Cooking is the data controller for the personal data described here and decides how and why it is processed. Contact: support@oliocooking.com; our postal address is available on request.

Information we collect and why

• Account data (email address, and — if you sign in with Google or Apple — the basic profile fields those providers return, such as name and avatar): to create and secure your account. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
• Content you create (saved recipes, meal plans, grocery items, music playlists, prompts you send to the AI assistant): to provide the service. Legal basis: performance of our contract.
• Device & usage data (app version, crash logs, basic analytics): to keep the app reliable, secure and improve it. Legal basis: our legitimate interests.
• Purchase data (plan status, trial expiry, subscription and customer reference from our payment provider): to unlock Olio Pro and support billing questions. Legal basis: performance of our contract and legal obligations such as tax record-keeping.
• Optional marketing messages, if you ask for them. Legal basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

We never handle or store your payment card details, and we do not run ads or share data with ad networks.

Payments and Paddle

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com Market Ltd (“Paddle”). Paddle is the Merchant of Record for all our orders and acts as its own controller for purchase data: Paddle collects and processes your name, billing email, billing address and country, payment method details, tax identifiers where relevant, transaction amounts and IP address in order to take payment, prevent fraud, issue invoices and handle tax compliance, refunds and billing support. Paddle shares with us only the information we need to activate and support your subscription — such as your subscription and customer reference, plan, status and billing period. See Paddle’s privacy notice. Purchases made inside our iPhone or Android apps are processed by Apple or Google instead, under their own privacy terms.

Who else we share data with

• Our cloud hosting, authentication and database provider.
• Our AI provider, which generates recipes, nutrition details and chef responses.
• The YouTube Data API, used for kitchen music search.
• Paddle, as Merchant of Record for sales, subscriptions, tax and invoicing.
• Professional advisers (legal, accounting) and authorities where the law requires.

Some of these providers are located outside the EEA. Where data is transferred internationally we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep data

We keep your account and content for as long as your account is open. If you delete your account, your account data and content are deleted within 30 days. Crash and usage logs are kept for up to 12 months. Records of purchases are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires (generally up to 7 years, held by us and by Paddle). After these periods data is deleted or anonymised.

How we protect your data

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures: encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, row-level database access rules so each account can only reach its own data, hashed credentials managed by our authentication provider, restricted administrative access, and secret management for API credentials. No system is perfectly secure, but we review these measures as the product changes.

Your rights

• Access, correct, export, restrict or object to the processing of your data, and request erasure. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Account settings.
• Withdraw consent where we rely on it, at any time.
• Cancel your Olio Pro subscription from Account settings, or via Apple or Google if you subscribed there. See our refund policy.
• Complain to your local data protection authority (in Greece, the Hellenic Data Protection Authority). We aim to answer requests within one month.

Cookies and local storage

We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember settings. We also use Google Ads (Google Ireland Ltd.) cookies and tags to measure which ads lead people to start an Olio Pro trial, and to optimise those ads. This sends Google device and browsing information such as pages visited, ad clicks and conversion events. In the EU/EEA, UK and Switzerland this only happens after you tap "Accept" on our cookie notice; elsewhere it is on by default. You can change or withdraw your choice anytime under Account → Cookie settings. Learn how Google uses this data at business.safety.google/privacy.

Children

Olio Cooking is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
